Aside from having even more awesome photos of the two of you, engagement sessions are a great way to break the ice and get to know each other before your wedding! You will get to experience how I work with couples, plus have an amazing photo story doing something in a place that is meaningful to the two of you!
Do we need an engagement session?
You can expect most types of sessions to last upward 2 hours at most. Generally 1-2 hours depending what we got going on!
How long will a session last?
Dress like yourself! Seriously though, this is all about you guys. Sure it can be fun to step outside of your comfort zone and have fun with your outfits! Sometimes being bold with your outfit choice can really take your photos to the next level! Don't think you need to dress up or dress like you think you should if it's not you. If you're not sure then bring a bag of clothes or send me pics. I don't mind helping you decide what might look great for your session. All in all, these photos are for you, so whether it's a flowy dress, shorts and your fave band tee, your underwear, or a simple comfy sweater and jeans. YOU DO YOU!
How should I dress for a session?
How important is the location? I just can't decide!
It's more about the both of you and your connection rather than the "best" location. Just think of places that are meaningful and speak to who you are/what you connect with. The forest, a cottage, a trailer you camp in, your home or backyard. No worries, I can help you decide! Great photos can be taken in the most unthinkable places!
For portrait sessions you can expect 50+ images. I don't like to give a specific cut off number. As for weddings, each wedding will vary but you can expect to receive approximately 50 images per hour or about 500+ final edited images.
How many images can I expect?
Can I have the raw files or unedited images?
Nope. Raw and/or un-edited images will not be given out under and circumstances. Sorry not sorry.
Can you photoshop us?
Unless something if just throwing off a potentially great image or the odd hand or object made its way in, then I would remove or crop it out. Otherwise I only alter things that wouldn't normally be there (ie. blemishes, bruises etc).
Can you help in our planning process?
I love to help! Generally (based off your Q&A answers) I create a wedding timeline to review with you, help plan your engagement session or find locations etc! I can do as much or as little as you need me to do. *Tag me in your wedding planning posts/stories on IG! I truly love to be a part of it and get excited with you!
For some short weddings/elopements it may not be necessary. However, for full day weddings, yes please!! It is best that I eat when YOU eat. That way I can capture you during the times that we both aren't eating :)
Do we feed you on the wedding day?
Heck no! I usually get a great feel for what is most important to you on your wedding day through your wedding Q&A. Through there you can let me know if there is anything specific that you MUST have photos of. Otherwise no, I wouldn't require one. I have my own mental list that I follow and know what I need to look for to document. If I am handed a huge list of images to capture, it's possible that other potentially-cherishable moments will be missed if I'm busy worrying about checking others off a list. In which I will more than likely capture anyway!
Do you require a shot list for weddings?
Love to travel! I require reasonable travel fees to cover airfare, accommodation and/or rental car during the time of stay.
Do you travel for shoots or weddings?
Should we order prints or an album?
I definitely recommend printing and bringing your photos to life! Whether it's an album, framed up on the wall or even loose prints in a box. Your photos aren't meant to live on your phone or computer and you will appreciate them so much more being able to see or hold them day to day. Ask me about printing options!
Where can I print from?
All I can say (from personal and clients experiences) is that you will m ore than likely regret printing from somewhere like Walmart, with off coloured prints and albums that might only last a few flip throughs. You can print right from your gallery's online store or use another proper printing lab. I also love and print from Pikto located in Toronto.
What are our photo rights?
You have full rights to unlimited downloads of your photos, for printing and using your photos for any personal purposes. *If sharing with your vendors, they are NOT to use them for anything other than their own social media posting WITH photo crediting*
What is the turn around time to receive our images?
For sessions it's 3-4 weeks and for weddings it's 8-12 weeks. I hand edit everything on my own and as much as I want to get them to you asap, I don't want to rush through them and make sure your final gallery is at its best! Although you can often expect them before those deadlines :)
Once you have signed and sent over your contract and retainer, you are officially booked! Woohoo!
